The Sony DCR-HC20 MiniDV camcorder is a baseband. Connect a FireWire cable (not USB) port on the DV camcorder (not USB) and FireWire port on your computer (not USB). Launch Video Editor, and the camcorder in “Play” mode. Import video.

USB does not work. USB-to-FireWire / Converters / Adapters things do not work.

They do not tell us what computer you use. We do not know whether it has a FireWire connection – and if not, we have no way of knowing if one can be added.

In this connection, FireWire, IEEE1394, i.LINK DV are all the same. No USB. Firewire and are different – and not interchangeable.
